[Interview] Eunhye Crafts a World of Emotions

Hello and welcome back to HallyuTones – always focused on Sound, Stage and Substance.

Today’s interview is with singer songwriter Eunhye! Read on below to find out more about her!

Introduction & Beginning in Music

Q1. Could you briefly introduce yourself? What kind of artist is Eunhye?

Hello 🙂 I’m singer-songwriter Eunhye, and through my songs I hope to create emotions, memories, and happiness for my listeners.

Q2. When and how did you start music? Do you remember the first song you ever wrote?
The very first concert I attended was BTS’s. Watching them share the stage with their audience, having fun together, and radiating such energy made something burn inside me. At that moment, I decided—I had to pursue music.

The first song I ever completed was for my grandmother. My parents both worked full-time, so I grew up with her. She has always been a very special person to me, giving me so much love that I felt the only way I could give back was through music. So I began writing line by line, and those words became lyrics—like a letter to her. That song remains one of the pieces I hope to release one day in a more perfect form.

About the New Single:

Q3. Please tell us about your new release—what’s the title and what kind of vibe does it have?
The song is called How Could You.” It reflects on moments when I felt insecure or clumsy, weighed down by regrets. But I realized those struggles were part of my growth. Instead of focusing on how others see me, I’ve learned to look at myself honestly. The song is about asking, “If it were you, what would you have done?”—and learning, growing, and being thankful for those who stayed by my side through it all.

It’s an uplifting yet restrained track, one you can listen to anywhere, anytime. Depending on the time of day or place, it can evoke different emotions—like colors shifting with the light.

Q4. What do you hope listeners will feel when they hear this song?
I hope they feel that even hardships and setbacks are simply part of growing. One of my favorite sayings is, “The darkest hour is just before dawn.” Pain is just the night before the sunrise. Instead of blaming yourself, embrace yourself during those dark hours. It’s simple, but difficult—love yourself. That’s the message I want to share.

Music Style & Influences:

Q5. Your music leans toward soft, emotional R&B. Which artists have influenced you most?

I’ve been influenced by many, since I enjoy such a wide variety of genres. But I’ve especially learned a lot from watching live performances by artists like Alicia Keys, Tori Kelly, and Yolanda Adams.

Q6. Outside of music, have other forms of art or culture influenced you?
Yes, I love films and dramas. For warm, romantic stories, I’d name Before Sunrise, About Time, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, A Star is Born, and La La Land. On the other hand, I’m a huge fan of apocalyptic stories—especially zombie series. I’m deeply impressed by Kim Eun-hee’s Kingdom, which is more than just a zombie drama—it makes you reflect on so many other themes.

Eunhye’s Uniqueness:

Q7. What do you think is the biggest charm of your music?
I’d say honesty. I try to capture small everyday moments in my melodies and express them in the most genuine language I can. If listeners feel like they’re having a conversation with me when they hear my songs, then that’s my greatest strength and charm.

Q8. If fans said, “Eunhye’s music is like ___,” what would make you happiest?
If someone described my music as “like a letter written late at night” or “like sunlight streaming into a quiet room,” I’d be so touched. That would mean my music gave someone comfort and warmth—and I don’t think there’s a greater compliment than that.

Future Plans:

Q9. Are there genres or concepts you’d like to challenge yourself with in the future?
I love pop, but within that, I want to keep exploring new textures. I’d like to dive deeper into alternative R&B or neo-soul, where I can really express vocal colors and groove. I also want to try live band arrangements that bring raw, energetic performances. On the other side, I’d love to strip everything down and do acoustic sets, relying only on voice and lyrics.

Fun Questions!

Q10. What’s on your playlist these days?
I listen to so many songs! Recently I’ve had these on repeat:

In Too DeepJacob Collier

DeeperIsrael & New Breed

어떤 형태 (Some Form) – Hen

Erase MeLizzy McAlpine, Jacob Collier

And Anderson .Paak’s Malibu album—I listen to it every day!

Q11. “If music didn’t exist, what would you be doing now?”
Since I’m free-spirited and love to have fun, I think I’d be working as a theme park cast member, welcoming guests every day (I even have a Lotte World annual pass!). I’d probably be traveling, enjoying different countries, making my parents proud, and living a normal life as an ordinary girl. But deep down, I know I was meant to share my talents—so I’m sure I’d still be performing in some way or another.

Thank you again to Eunhye for the interesting answers regarding her new song and her many varied musical inspirations! Thank you as well to SungKuk Kim of Klab Company Inc. for this opportunity.
