[Interview] Fairy Mai Talks ‘Light Please’ and Shares Her Musical Aspirations

Today I am very pleased to announce our first interview with the up-and-coming new soloist, Fairy Mai (페어리마이), who has kindly sat down with us to answer a few questions and to discuss her debut track and aspirations!

Rather than introducing her, how about we let Fairy Mai introduce herself?

Q1. Please introduce yourself and tell us about your musical style.
Hello, I’m Fairy Mai, and I made my debut on May 28 with the song Light Please. My music is an energetic dance style centered around powerful rhythms and raw emotions. I aim to express emotions and explosive energy through my performances on stage.

Q2. Your new song ‘Light Please’ has been released—can you tell us about the message and style of the song?
Light Please is about the desire to break free from a rigid, structured reality. And when that feels impossible, it’s about the urge to burn it all down and start over. The song features strong guitar riffs and a bass-driven foundation, with hyper-energy sounds and a dramatic vocal progression. It’s a relentlessly powerful track from start to finish.

Q3. The new music video looks amazing! Can you share any behind-the-scenes stories from the shoot?
Honestly, everything went by so quickly that I don’t remember every detail, but I do remember it being a really fun atmosphere. One moment that stood out was when we all clapped after shooting the final scene—it was a great team with awesome chemistry. Also, we ended up doing two extra shoots for additional scenes.

Q4. You recently held your first showcase. How was that experience?
I was really nervous before going on stage, but seeing the audience smiling immediately put me at ease. I was able to enjoy the performance myself, and it became a moment I truly want to experience again. I’ll never forget how I felt that day.

Q5. You also released a collaboration track called ‘Lipstick’ with KAIOS—could you tell us more about that song?
Lipstick has a slightly harder and edgier vibe. It’s a track that focuses more on expressing through style than raw emotion, which made it a new and exciting challenge for me. Working with KAIOS was a fun and inspiring experience.

Q6. Who is an artist that inspires you?
That would be BIBI. She has such a distinct color as an artist, and the way she expresses emotion on stage with sincerity has always impressed me. I hope to become an artist with my own unique atmosphere and emotional depth, just like her.

Q7. What are your goals as an artist?
I want to perform on more stages and connect with more people. My goal is to create performances that naturally make people want to dance. I want to enjoy the stage and share that energy with the audience.

Q8. We heard you participated in the chorus for your new track—how was the production process?
Yes, I personally recorded the chorus parts. Thanks to my producer, the process went smoothly. As I recorded, I grew even more attached to the song. It was rewarding to fill in the detailed parts with my own voice.

Q9. Lastly, do you have a message for your fans and for new listeners discovering your music?
As Fairy Mai, I’ll keep bringing you honest and energetic music. I’d love your support and interest, and if my performances can bring you joy, that’s all I could ever ask for.

안녕하세요, 5월 28일에 ‘Light Please’로 데뷔한 Fairy Mai입니다. 제 음악은 강렬한 리듬과 솔직한 감정을 중심으로 한 에너지 넘치는 댄스 스타일이에요. 무대 위에서 감정과 폭발력을 보여줄 수 있는 음악을 지향하고 있어요.

Q2. 신곡 ‘Light Please’가 발매되었는데, 이 곡의 메시지와 스타일에 대해 설명해 주실 수 있나요?
‘Light Please’는 틀에 박힌 현실에서 벗어나고 싶은 마음과, 그게 안 된다면 차라리 모든 걸 태워버리고 리셋하고 싶은 감정을 담은 곡이에요. 강한 기타 리프와 베이스 드라이브가 중심을 잡고 있고, 하이퍼에너지 사운드와 드라마틱한 보컬 전개가 특징이에요. 처음부터 끝까지 기세를 놓지 않는, 몰아치는 스타일의 곡이에요.

Q3. 새 뮤직비디오가 정말 멋져요! 촬영 비하인드 스토리를 들려주실 수 있을까요?
사실 촬영이 너무 빠르게 지나가서 디테일한 기억은 잘 안 나요. 그래도 분위기는 정말 즐거웠고, 마지막 씬을 찍을 때 모두 박수치면서 마무리했던 게 인상 깊었어요. 팀워크가 정말 좋았던 현장이었어요. 그리고 저희가 추가촬영을 2번했어요.

Q4. 최근 첫 쇼케이스도 열었죠. 그 경험은 어땠나요?
무대에 오르기 전에는 굉장히 긴장했었는데, 관객분들 웃는 얼굴을 보는 순간 마음이 편안해졌어요. 덕분에 무대 자체를 저도 즐길 수 있었고, 정말 다시 한 번 느끼고 싶은 감정이에요. 그날의 느낌은 잊지 못할 것 같아요.

Q5. KAIOS와 함께한 콜라보 곡 ‘Lipstick’도 발매하셨는데, 이 곡에 대해 자세히 소개해 주세요.
‘Lipstick’은 좀 더 하드한 분위기를 가진 곡이에요. 감정을 덜어내고 스타일로 표현하는 느낌이라, 개인적으로는 새로운 시도를 해본 작업이었어요. KAIOS와의 협업도 흥미롭고 즐거운 경험이었습니다.

Q6. 아티스트로서 당신의 영감이 되는 인물은 누구인가요?
비비 선배님이에요. 자기만의 색이 정말 뚜렷하고, 무대 위에서 굉장히 진정성 있게 감정을 표현하시는 점이 늘 인상 깊었어요. 저도 저만의 분위기와 감정선을 가진 아티스트가 되고 싶어요.

더 많은 무대에서 많은 분들과 만나고, 저절로 신나서 춤추게 되는 무대를 만드는 것이 제 목표예요. 무대를 즐기고, 그 에너지를 관객과 공유할 수 있는 아티스트가 되고 싶어요.

Q8. 이번 신곡에서 코러스를 직접 참여하셨다고 들었어요. 곡 작업 과정은 어떤 식으로 진행되었나요?
네, 코러스 부분에 직접 참여했어요. PD님께서 많이 도와주셔서 수월하게 작업할 수 있었고, 녹음하면서 곡에 대한 애정도 더 커졌어요. 디테일한 부분까지 제 목소리로 채울 수 있어서 뿌듯했어요.
